Since its founding, the Ensemble has created and performed theater productions across the US, in Europe and in Russia, and developed a two-year college level acting program through Sunbridge College.

Lloyd Constantine is an author and lawyer plying his crafts in New York City and Chatham, New York. His stage credits include Alfred P. Doolittle in PS 164’s production of My Fair Lady in 1957 and Tom Sawyer in Denton Avenue School’s 1958 production of The Tales of Huckleberry Finn. But Lloyd’s best night at the theatre occurred in the audience of Walking The Dog Theatre’s 2009 production of Melania Levitsky’s Chekhovek. That very night he told Melania that this brilliant invention must be staged in The Big Apple and he committed to help make that happen.

Walking the dog Theater
Founded in Australia in 1997, and incorporated as a 501©(3) not-for-profit organization in 1998, Walking the dog Theater (WTD) (www.wtdtheater.org) established itself by creating avant-garde theater performances which incorporated movement and live, original music, and through successful children’s productions employing the same style. The touring ensemble gave performances and workshops in venues as varied as festival theaters, universities, schools, and prisons, before landing in Columbia County and deciding to make a home there. For the past five years, the company has produced a professional season of plays in the county.
Since its founding, WTD’s education program has reached over 50,000 children and young people with its performances and workshops.
In 2009 WTD premiered “Virtue, Desire, Death, and Foolishness,” Melania Levitsky’s comedy adapting stories from Anton Chekhov, in Hudson, NY. Revisioning it for 2012, “Chekhovek” brings the humanity, scope, and charm of Chekhov’s world thoroughly into the 21st century
